Heather and Daniel have been friends for college, but nothing more. Wanted: A Boyfriend for Christmas, I love the title and the personal ad element had some cute and telling moments for Heather. I felt like I’ve read this storyline a few times. I adore stories where love was there the whole time, but it was spoon-fed in this one. Still, a very sweet read with a light Christian aspect. A nice, feel-good story for the holidays.

Steaming from Vanessa Barger was a surprising page turner. I say surprising because it took me a while to get through the first few pages, honestly there was a moment when I didn’t think I could read more, not because it wasn’t well written, it just wasn’t my style of writing. But once I got about a chapter in, WOW the adventure begins and NEVER EVER stopped until the very end. Cornelius is naïve, young, insecure and a bit of a loner. He prefers his gadgets and inventions to the people of London.

UNTIL…until that fateful night at the ball when a beauty catches his eyes and he is smitten. But as you can imagine, things don’t go as planned. The Time Keeper is the perfect steampunk villain and tBea is the perfect Steampunk heroine/co hero.

I was genuinely drawn into the characters and the plot. I enjoyed entering the world Ms Barger created and couldn’t be more pleased that I didn’t let my initial feeling stop me from reading what was a very enjoyable read. The steampunk aspect wasn’t over played in the story, many steampunk books forget that the plot must be there for the steampunk to work. This book set in nearly any time period would have worked, the story was that strong. The author left the door open for a sequel, one that I will buy on its release day.

Gai is so endearing and she is such a bumbling detective that I’m surprised the culprit came to light at the end of the story. Geoff is a wonderful man with hidden depths and a kind disposition. Sweet cozies are a rare treat and this one offers laughs, secrets and intriguing human behavior. Having lived in a very small town myself I know how interesting the residents can be. The quirky individuals we meet might seem over the top if they weren’t so darn realistic. The location comes to life with amazing clarity and I can almost smell the fresh ocean air and feel the brisk winds in my face. The characters and setting are what made this book such a winner for me. If you are looking for a mystery with some maritime charm then you have to pick this one up.

I love traditional Regencies with non-conventional heroines as I find it much easier to relate to them. Our leading lady and her friend Julia are very amiable characters and their circle of family and friends kept me in stitches. Arthur is a strong and steadfast hero

And I found myself holding my breath in the hopes that he would win over his friend’s affections. I enjoyed the action and the setting and could not get enough of the heroine’s outrageous Aunt. I appreciated how certain subject matter was handled with the proper amount of humor and deference and I am looking forward to seeing Julia buck society’s conventions and get her very own adventure. Overall I delighted in this story and I am looking forward to reading many more by this talented author.

Shane’s skills as a surgeon let him change people’s lives. In Noelle he sees someone who is truly worthy of his skill, someone completely beautiful on the inside who he wants to help. He goes to great lengths to arrange to operate on her face to help the outside match the inside, but in his zeal to fix Noelle, he misses enough to cost him a life time of happiness with Noelle.

The Christian slant on this is very Catholic, so an understanding of the Catholic faith helps. Noelle was fantastic, very well built and interesting. A fiction story just about her journey would have worked well. The romance element was weak and Shane and his faith never fully fleshed out. The descriptions of the location and the magic Noelle feels make Just the Way You Are a feel-good short read.

J L Wilson gives readers a witty whodunit packed with remarkable characters and a charming location.

Ophelia meets Adrian right after and true love extinguishes the wicked crush. In secret, he gives her courage against a specter threat.

Tristan is pale and hungry, and draws Martin's immediate ire. He knows things about Ophelia which she assumes are delusions brought on by an aggravated illness like her own, diabetes. When battle breaks out between his ancient race and new blood, even the courage of her secret love might be crushed.

I found this to be a very enjoyable prequel to Sugar Rush and it answered a lot of questions for me as to why someone as intelligent as Ophelia would ever be with a bully like Martin. It also left me wanting many more answers and a longing for another chapter in Ophelia’s chronicles. The young heroine and her sister are extremely likable and easy to relate to. I loved the fact the twins had such different personalities and that Ophelia was on the nerdy side. My only issue was that for a young adult novel some of the language and situations seemed a little too mature for younger readers. I look forward to seeing what else Kimber An can create and share with us.

Running and screaming will have to wait. A blood-sucking dead guy may be a vampire to you, but he's an alien/human hybrid to Ophelia and she really must examine his olfactory nerve under a microscope first.

Ophelia longs to be free, free of diabetes, free of her ex-boyfriend, free to live. Something transformed Martin and made her his drug. If he has his way, she'll never achieve the freedom to learn his true nature and origin.

Adrian's the new guy in school. He faked his identity to get close to Ophelia, knowing the monsters who took his diabetic sister would try to take Ophelia, too. Then, he'd have them. But, he knew better than to get too close.

Oh, yeah, he did. Seriously.

I loved the fact that the heroine is such a Trekkie, as it is not only unusual to find a nerdy female lead but even harder to find a die-hard geek like Ophelia. With her health issues and her weird boyfriend problems it wasn’t hard to feel sympathy for her. Bianca her twin is over the top fun and a great complement to her sister’s serious character. My only issue is that for such an intelligent girl it takes Ophelia an awful long time to figure out who her secret admirer is so the story dragged a little for me. I enjoyed the unique paranormal aspect and the over all tone of the story. The descriptions and the location added to my satisfaction, as did the supporting characters. Martin might have been totally creepy but he was extremely well written. I cannot wait to see what the future holds for Ophelia. I recommend this one for anybody looking for a rare take on vampires and shapeshifters.

In Kara Lynn Russell Latest SNOW BLIND, we have all the makings of a great read. The dark brooding Hero, the innocent and strong willed heroine, and a cast around them that you know isn’t exactly what then seem. This book had me wanting to know exactly what was going to happen next. I couldn’t imagine what had happened in that car to change a man life so drastically. As the lies and the mystery unravel, the story grows deeper and deeper.

My big complaint is that we spend so much time building to a climax and so little dealing with the aftermath. I would have enjoyed having more in-depth and seeing some of the reveal for the great villain.

But, ultimately this is a book about faith and forgiveness and knowing that deep down inside we are all worthy of forgiveness. Ms Russell’s characters have depth and truly come to life, as any good characters do.

Maggie needs a way to get out on her own, so the situation is ideal for both. If you are looking for something light, and as I mentioned sweet, then you will enjoy the story. If you are looking for something with some depth and conflict, I advise that you read something else.

First of all do not be fooled by the label on the publisher’s website this is a historical story, not a contemporary one. Once I made that transition in my head it was a better reading for me. I really enjoyed the main character in this story. She is strong willed and goes after what she wants but in an utterly charming way. Callie and her horse Devil are the high points of this story for me. The hero did not wow me in this story. I found him to be a more wishy washy forty year old man compared to these twenty year old girls who are after him. I would have loved to see more of Callie’s background and perhaps had competition for her affections rather than Colt’s. The plot devices in this story were also overused. The hero spends most of the book rescuing his heroine from very similar situations, and from villains whose dialogue is at times rather silly. This story also did a lot of head hopping which can sometimes add to the story and give insight to different characters, but I don’t feel that the villainous characters had enough depth that their thoughts were worth looking at. Overall this story had potential and a very lovable heroine, but was executed poorly and is not worth your time.

This book took an interesting turn for being the second in a series. Despite the entire cast of characters that were introduced in the first book, this second of the series introduces a whole new set of people. It’s a little off putting at first but I quickly got interested in Savannah and Gabriel’s story. However, this book doesn’t work well as a stand alone because there are a lot of recurring characters and plot points from Divine Touch. A lot of what was great about the start of this series reappeared in Divine Intervention, for example the characters were very entertaining and relatable, and the environment is full of the mystical. The world has expanded in this book and the focus has shifted off of the Goddesses to Death and his brothers and how they fit into the scheme of things. Divine Intervention was a somewhat darker world than Divine Touch with the introduction of demons, vampires, and the Shadow King. Overall this book keeps up consistently with the previous book but I found the ending a little disappointing with the concluding battle, but I would still recommend it as a great read.

Goddesses, werewolves, and elves, oh my! This book was incredibly clever and fun. Filled to the bursting with magical creatures this story is a fast paced ride that doesn’t really slow down until the end. Kate and Zane are very lovable characters and their relationship unfolds very sweetly. The plot offers many twists and turns with every new realization. As the first of a series a lot had to be accomplished in this story with the unveiling of a whole cast of characters, but this was done in an interesting way that was not overwhelming like some other series beginners tend to be. The dialogue is witty and well written, making me laugh on several occasions. I would highly recommend this book and I’m anticipating continuing the series.

Matthew Tyler is just doing what is expected of him by the “in” crowd he belongs to. Just another dare for Halloween. But while doing so, he meets someone special.

This is a nicely written story that reminds us all of high school days, good or bad.

Ms Brenton weaves a sweet Holiday tale in her latest short story. The characters are likeable and real. Any reader could certainly relate to them on any level. Annika's love of baking is also front and center as with beautiful discriptions of the scents and smells of her baking. My only complaint is that I would have liked to see more interaction between the two main characters, I felt that the romance took a back seat to the other items that were happening in this well written story.

If you are looking for a sweet story to read while waiting for those trick-or-treaters to come ringing your door bell, you can’t go wrong with this one. Happy reading.

This was a nicely complicated story that I enjoyed reading. The characters both dealt with numerous conflicts, including between the two of them. There was a slowly developing romance that left me feeling satisfied. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Marisa Hamilton’s day starts off bad and gets worse. It peaks when she has to chase down her cat on the fourth story ledge of her apartment building, wearing a black bustier and fishnet stockings for her office Halloween party. She doubts her morning could get any worse. Wrong.

Ben Singer’s morning starts off oddly when he finds a strange cat sitting on his sofa, having come in through his open window. Then he hears a scream outside and finds a scantily clad woman hanging from his window ledge. Strangest Halloween he’s ever had…luckiest one, too.

For such a short story, I really enjoyed it. Everyone has had one “of those days” and can identify with this poor, frustrated heroine. And the hero was perfect for smoothing out the rough start to Marisa’s day. Plus there is the bonus of falling in lust—maybe love—at first sight. Overall, a sweet, enjoyable Halloween red.

I really enjoyed The Demon’s Princess. The characters have a depth not always found in y/a paranormals. Lucinda is a mature young lady who has a practical and a passionate side in romance. And having to make a choice between the two – or three – very interesting and extremely sexy guys in front of her will take her the rest of the way to adulthood.

This was a sweet, sad story about a guardian angel and an abused child. For readers interested in this subject, you will enjoy it.

Mary Lou’s work as a guardian angel is often a challenge. Watching over four-year-old Ashley is one of her biggest challenges. The sweet little girl has a mother more interested in herself and making her horrible boyfriend happy than in caring for her defenseless daughter.

While the storyline and characters touched my heart, I found the story dragging me through it. There was almost no dialogue to pull the reader along. I felt the writer had a good idea but needed to hone the writing more.

I loved this book. It has everything: well-developed characters, strong emotions, obstacles galore, villains, and a complicated plot…and all in a novella-length story.

So, this book works well as a stand alone and with the series.

Juliana Anderson’s story was a very special one, that of a battered and emotionally broken woman. With the help of her sister and her family, Juliana finds her way out of the horrors she’d lived in during her marriage. It could have been a story about a woman who merely survived terrible abuses. Instead it was about that, as well as about a woman who learns to trust again and to allow love to enter her heart when Jonathan comes into her life. He’s a gentle man who sees beyond the scarred woman and loves her.

Rosa’s story is about a gentle young woman born deaf and adopted at birth. She’d been loved all her life by a couple who couldn’t have children of their own. On her 21^st birthday she was kissed by Devon Barnes, the manager of the band entertaining at her party. He hadn’t known she was deaf, but he’d been unable to get her out of his mind from that kiss forward. She’d been at first frightened of him because of the surprise kiss, and then she fell in love with him.

Keep a box of tissues handy when you read this story. To me, there is nothing better than a movie or a book that pulls on all of your heartstrings.

Reading this book is like being caught up in a fabulous ‘30’s movie—a cross between It Happened One Night and China Seas. Everything about this story has an authentic ‘30’s feel, from the settings, to the language, to the characters’ behavior. The descriptions, particularly of the settings and the plane, are expertly drawn. It’s been a long time since a book swept me so completely into another time and place.

Kyla and Dudley have a great marriage, or so Kyla thought right up until her husband was arrested for murder. Unsure what to believe, Kyla fights the good fight for her husband, sure he can’t be the one and when he is exonerated, she is happy. But with every passing turn she questions herself and finds herself in a nightmare of her own making.

Nightmare is suspense. It’s short, moves fast and I wish Ms. Lewis would have left it as suspense. The romance portion fell very flat for me because in the short pages the characters didn’t really get a chance to build. Suspense-wise, great story. Romance-wise not so much. If a reader is looking for something quick and mysterious, Nightmare, with its twists and turns will satisfy. But if you’re looking for a romance with a believable ‘happily ever after’, it’s not here.

This is a touching story of a second chance at love. Life can get in the way of happiness sometimes, fears even more so. Sometimes you can find the strength to get beyond those fears and stay focused on what is most important: a soul-deep love. Sometimes you don’t.

Belle works long hours as a dedicated trauma surgeon. Her husband understood and accepted that, working hard at his own job of being a firefighter. Like many couples they began arguing, but then things seem to mount between them. Until one day she told Lucas she wanted a divorce. Heartbroken but loving her enough to let her go, he agreed. Yet neither had forgotten how much they loved one another, neither had moved on. Then an emergency family meeting draws them unexpectedly together again. Can they find a way to be happy again? Or will they hold to the divorce agreement?

The characters were well-developed and the reader can easily feel the emotional struggles they experienced. The internal conflicts are based on believable external issues and handled well. Overall this is a great story of how impossible it is to give up on a special love. And I loved this hero.
